Lightweight Tiered Outdoor Fountains

Lightweight Tiered Water Fountains are the embodiment of refinement. Entire town squares were devoted to providing fountains of enormous size during past eras. Artistic versions of these utilitarian fountains, (originally designed to keep the water supply clean and available), soon found their way to the courtyards of royalty. Tiered fountains soon became the embodiment of luxury.

We can no longer presume to know the logic behind these 3 tiered fountains. Fortunate archaeologists might be able to locate documents that disclose why the tiered fountain was used more often than any other design, world-wide. Some say the water purified itself more thoroughly with this system. Others say that the design helped trap leaves and other matter inclined to find its way into the lower bowls. Some say that a tiered version kept bathing birds at the top, while thirsty humans partook of the water beneath. None of this matters really, except for the fact that the presence of this fountain has been historically important since the dawn of civilized times.

Although the size of our fountains is miniscule by comparison, we haven't lost our appreciation for their beauty. That's why fiberglass composite water fountains are so important. We can become grandiose with our exhibition and not be inhibited by weight or size. Even a 6' tall four-tiered fountain weighs less than 75 lbs when constructed from fiberglass or resin.

All the areas of the world are represented in this collection of tiered water fountains. The Mediterranean appreciation for plants and detailed tiers, as well as the Caribbean's tastes for thick pedestals and heavy bowls, the Tuscans preferred an elongated pedestal, with simply-carved bowls. Other areas of the world were equally as deliberate about the design of their water fountains.

Although we need not worry about the utilitarian aspects of today's fountains, thankfully, we can still enjoy the magic and wonder of this beautiful display of water and sound.
