The SRS 250 Dawn Simulator is the Ultimate, All-Natural Alarm Clock! The SRS250 Alarm Clock combines the innovative features of the original Sunrise System Alarm Clock (SRS100) with an integral lamp and a built in stereo MP3 player to enable you to wake or relax with personalized dawn/dusk light simulation and sound or music.

The integral lamp mimics a morning sunrise and it will reach full brightness at the wake up time you have chosen. At that time you can either wake to a sounder or to the music, sound or recorded radio program of your choice. Alternatively you can choose to wake with just the dawn light simulation. 

You can wake up to music recorded by yourself. The music (MP3 file) needs to be recorded on to an MMC card at a maximum rate of 128Kbps. A free MMC card is supplied with the product and already has sleep and nature sounds on it. You can’t download/upload MP3 files to the Sunrise System directly, you must download or record them on to an MMC card and put that into the slot on the side of the Sunrise System 250.

I was originally looking for an alarm clock that I could program mp3's into. I had never even heard of "dawn simulators" and I thought I'd give it a shot. I'd always been a very heavy sleeper and have been known to sleep through the most annoyingly blaring alarm clocks. I was amazed at how much of a difference it makes in helping me to wake up. It slowly begins lighting the room, going from off to full light in fifteen minutes (that interval can be programmed from 15 minutes to two hours in 15 minute intervals), and after it reaches full light, it begins playing whatever mp3 you have programmed into it (or no mp3 if you prefer). Sometimes I'll program it to play music that slowly rises in volume, on weekends I'll have it play a thunderstorm or a bubbling brook. That said, it's actually the light that wakes me (often, I'll wake up before I hear music... and again I'm a VERY deep sleeper). If I set it to brighten over the course of an hour, it doesn't work for me. In the summer time (when the sun is already peeping in at 5am) it doesn't work as well (though the alarm does it's job), but in the winter time it makes for a wonderfully relaxing way to start the day. The other nice feature is that the clock and perform an artificial sunset, meaning it goes from full bright to off over a set interval (again, ranging from 15 minutes to two hours). A friend of mine with insomnia used it and raved about it as it helped him to fall to sleep better (said something about the sunset cuing the body to begin relaxing). I have used the sunset only a few times, but I have used the companion feature which is to play mp3's that fade out over a preset amount of time. It's nice to hear birds chirping or a bubbling brook or a thunderstorm or bamboo wind chimes while I gradually begin to unwind and fall asleep. I've owned mine for a long time now and find it indispensable. I realize that I'm going overboard with the praise, but it really has improved my sleep life. Waking up gradually, peacefully makes a huge difference in terms of how I begin my day.

Amazing!! I love it. This alarm clock is exactlly what I was looking for. I now look forward to be woke up... The MP3 feature is great to wake up with the water sound.
