Lawn Gnomes - Learn some Fun Facts about Garden Gnomes

You will fall in love with these Lawn Gnomes and want a whole Gnome Family for your Gardens.  Here are some fun facts about Gnomes!

The first garden gnomes were introduced to the United Kingdom in 1847 by Sir Charles Isham, when he brought 21 Terracotta figures back from a trip to Germany and placed them around the gardens of his home.  In recent years Garden Gnomes have made their way to the United States and continue to be a popular addition to your lawn or garden.

The story of the Woodland Gnomes you see on our site goes like this:  The first Woodland Gnome arrived in North America along with Christopher Columbus and his crew in 1492.  They were in search of new land and adventure which they indeed found here!  They loved the abundance of land and green plants they found in their travels across the land.

The Woodland Gnome guides are an important part of the Woodland Gnome Village.  Most of the guides are elder members of the community that can assist in finding food and finding land to build new places to live.  These gnomes are storytellers, fascinating the younger Woodland Gnomes with thier great stories.  This is known to help preserve the Woodland Gnome History and keep the younger Gnomes out of mischief.

Most Woodland Gnomes carry knives so that they are able to rescue animals from traps and remove splinters from paws.  The knife also comes in handy when they need to get food for animals that are not able to fend for themselves.  Some Gnome Guides also carry journal books so that they can map out the area as they travel and make notes about things on their journey that may be of interest.

Woodland Gnomes are also known to plant wildflowers wherever they go.  Next time you see a wildflower, wonder, How did that get here?  May be it was left during one of these gnomes adventures.

Gnomes are nocturnal, sleep by day and carry out their duties by night.  Only a handful of humans have seen a Woodland Gnome!

The original lawn gnome is about 6 inches tall without their traditional Gnome hat.  With their hat, they measure about 8 inches.  You will now find gnomes in several sizes so you are able to find what works best in your lawn or garden.

When Woodland Gnomes meet new guests they often present gifts such as bird houses, and they are always sure to put out a sign to welcome them in to their home.
