Puppies and dogs who chew can be frustrating....but at least you no longer have to keep replacing their dog bed! Choose any one of our chew resistant dog beds and almost indestructible dog beds and it will be the last dog bed you purchase for a long time!
Some of our chew proof dog beds are made from durable aluminum or poly resin, with stainless steel fasteners. These strong, lightweight, chew proof frames provide soft off the floor comfort, and are easy to clean! These dog beds can be used indoors or outdoors, and the off the floor design helps keep your dog warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. The durable aluminum material makes them the most indestructible bed you can buy for your dog.
Dogs, especially puppies, love and need to chew. Thankfully, this urge lessens as they mature, but they can sure destroy lots of things before that time comes. Unfortunately, some breeds never get over the desire to exercise their jaws. Chew resistant dog beds are excellent deterrents for this behavior. These beds utilize two methods for resolving the issue of dogs who chew their beds:
Aluminum Framing
Cot style dog beds are made with aircraft-grade aluminum. It not only tastes bad, but it doesn't crush the way lightweight aluminum does. Surprisingly, some dogs can bend and break lightweight aluminum chairs with their teeth, but few can even dent aircraft-grade aluminum. The cot bed is also beneficial because it elevates your dog off the hot ground and allows air to circulate beneath him. During winter, you can outfit your dog cots with sherpa pads designed to securely attach to the legs of the cot.
Chew-Resistant Fabrics
Ballistic Nylon, (also known as Cordura nylon), is the preferred material for chew resistant dog beds in all shapes and sizes. This tough material was originally developed for military flak jackets. It has twice the tear strength of cotton duct of equal thickness, and three times the abrasive resistance. It withstands temperatures to -40° (for four hours), and can be machine washed and hung to dry. It is available in a variety of colors that help make it suitable for blending into household environments. Note: Although this fabric will resist most dog's attempts to chew through it, some dogs can and do manage the task. It is not 100% fool-proof, and the manufacturer clearly makes this point. See the Max Comfort Dog Beds for this fabric option.
All chew resistant fabric selections tuck right into the chew proof bed frame, eliminating the possibility of tearing or shredding at the ends. Many dogs chew out of anxiety from being left in a crate or kennel. The Kuranda Crate chew proof dog bed features an innovative chew proof design for dog crates or kennels. All of these models can be easily washed or hosed clean with soap, water and/or disinfectants. This, along with their durable chew-proof design, make them a popular choice among veterinarians, kennels, boarders and breeders.
