Rain Chains: How do they Work?
Rain chains are beautiful decorations and very functional devices, because they work like regular downspouts, letting the water from the roof to fall down and be directed where needed. They can serve as good replacement for the old-fashioned gutter downspouts, allowing the rain to swirl and flow down, producing relaxing tinkling sounds similar to those the water fountains make.
The rain chains are most often made of pure copper, a material that is resistant to corrosion and needs very little maintenance. The unique verdigris patina the copper attains over the years of use gives
the chains even more attractive appearance.
There are different designs of the rain chain’s links and rain cups. When the rain falls the water goes through these links and cups of the chain, depending on its design, and instead of letting it go all over your garden, you can direct the water to flow into a specific place where it is needed, such as a large flower planter that likes water, for example. You can also collect the water into a rain barrel and later use it for watering the other plants in the garden.
What’s also great about the rain chains is that they can also serve as decorations for the garden, combining the functionality of a gutter downspout, the look of a garden sculpture, and the sounds of a water feature. They come in various styles, shapes and colors and can easily be implemented in just about any garden décor. Shop copper rain chains now at Serenity Health.
