The Fountain of Wealth: Guinness Book of Records Largest Fountain in the World

In 1998 the Guinness Book of Records listed the Fountain of Wealth as the largest fountain in the world. This astonishing water feature was constructed in 1995, as a symbol of wealth and life. It is located in one of the Singapore’s largest shopping malls, Suntec City.

The Fountain of Wealth is designed and installed by an Australian company DCG Design and Meridian Projects. It is made of silicon bronze, consisted of a 66 meters circular ring which is supported by four large slanted columns. The fountain is 13.8 meters high, with base area of 1,683 square meters.

The design of the largest fountain in the world symbolizes the oneness in spirit and unity, representing the equality and harmony of all races and religions that live in Singapore. The five tower blocks of the Suntec City shopping mall represent the fingers and thumb of a left hand, emerging from the ground, and forming the palm of the hand together with the fountain.

Water is symbol of life and wealth in the Chinese culture, and according to feng shui experts the water that flows inwards the fountain represents riches pouring in. This is why it is called the Fountain of Wealth. It is believed that if you walk around the central base of the fountain three times and you touch the water all three times, you would get some of that good luck. If you have a chance to visit the Fountain of Wealth in Singapore, share your experience and let us know if this is true. J
